Happy 2nd Birthday David!

David turned two years old on Sunday, April 26th. We decided to fly to Utah one last time while he could still fly free before he turned two. We were in Utah a week, returning the night before his birthday. David had a great 2nd birthday. We've been trying to teach him what a birthday means, and it seems he understands that it involves cakes, presents and singing. David's face lit up each time we sang the "Happy Birthday" song.
Sunday morning of his birthday we attended our Sacrament Meeting and while eagerly eating a string cheese, David decided there was too much in his mouth and threw up. Luckily Melanie saw the signs of David's red eyes and cheeks and caught all of it in the changing pad. Nice catch! Gratefully it didn't land on the pew or floor, and David recovered quickly and enjoyed going to Nursery as always.

After church we had dinner and a family party. David loved his choo-choo train cake, made entirely of cupcakes. Steve and Melanie decorated the cake while David was taking a nap so it was a fun surprise for him. When we lit the candles, he wanted Mom to blow them out over and over again. Maybe next year he will blow out his own. The frosting was a bit much for him and after one bite, he decided he only wanted to pick off and eat the M&Ms.

David also loved tearing off the wrapping paper of his gifts and said "Ahhhh" after each one. He received some books, puzzles, DVDs, a truck, and a basketball hoop. David asks for his truck first thing in the morning, and he loves making baskets in his new hoop. When he misses the basket he says, "Ooh, miss" and then quickly goes for a rebound. He loves having an audience and expects everyone to clap for each made basket. Spencer is also fascinated by the toys, and hopefully David will learn to share.

We love David! It's hard to believe it's been two years since he was born. He brings us so much joy. We love his excitement, energy, curiosity, and love for life. He has always been a happy baby and now toddler. We are so grateful he was sent to our home. Happy Birthday David!
