On their way home from a week at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico, Grandma and Grandpa Burgess spent the weekend of July 12th and 13th with us. David loved all of the attention and happily babbled stories to his grandparents.
On Saturday we ate lunch at Tia Rosa's restaurant, a favorite Mexican restaurant we go to when we have out-of-state visitors. Then we drove around the Lehi neighborhood looking for horses. Lehi is just north of Mesa and was settled in 1877 by Mormon pioneers. We wanted to take a photograph of David and Grandpa with a horse since Grandpa's horses Chief and Duke passed away before David was born. David seemed a little apprehensive by the horse's size and didn't say much, but now he gets excited any time he sees a horse. 
On Sunday Steven and I were asked to give talks during Sacrament Meeting, so David sat with Grandma and Grandpa at church. He was great the entire meeting and even seemed to listen to our talks. After a nice Sunday meal and a few photos outside, we had to say goodbye and drive Grandma and Grandpa to the airport in the heavy rain. Unfortunately, their flight was delayed two hours because of the monsoon--the airport received a record amount of rain that evening. It was so much fun having Grandma and Grandpa visit!

What a fun visit! It was so fun seeing your mom and dad with David. I bet it was so nice having them around!!
Burgess thanks for sharing these fun experiences with us. I hope you continue to have an amazing summer. Next time your up in Utah give me a call. I think we need some kind of missionary reunion. Come next year we would have all been home 10 years. Wow how fast time goes.
